Abstract
The paper presents a novel novel logic controller for high performance induction motor drive systems. The fuzzy logic controller utilizes rules obtained from human expertise or input-output mapping of the controlled plant. The inputs to the fuzzy logic controller are the linguistic variable of speed error and change of speed error, while the output is change in switching control frequency of the voltage source inverter. The input voltage to the induction motor is determined from switching control frequency using constant voltage per hertz ratio (V/F) to ensure motor constant flux and maximum available torque per amp. The speed control utilizes a fuzzy logic based controller. Both digital simulation and laboratory test results for speed control of the induction motor drive are presented. Also a comparison between fuzzy logic controller and the traditional PI controller are presented. The results validate the robustness and the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy logic controller for high performance of the induction motor drive
