Abstract :
The authors preset an approach to design and implement real-time digital filters for low-pass filtering, base-line drift removal, and AC noise cancellation in electrocardiogram (ECG) signal conditioning. These filters have been implemented on a digital signal processor (DSP), the Motorola DSP56001. Two adaptive digital filters are introduced to cancel AC noise. One is designed for a fixed, known AC frequency, while the other one is adaptable to AC frequency changes. Both filters do not require auxiliary inputs. The filters have been evaluated with synthetic ECG signals corrupted with various noises
