Abstract :
Nowadays, the increase in the usage of non-linear loads leads to deterioration of the quality of current waveforms at the point of common coupling of various consumers. Active power filters (APFs) has been used to mitigate the harmonic pollution in electrical networks. In the present work, cascaded multilevel inverter based shunt active power filter has been considered as an ideal current source and injects the compensating current into the ac lines, in order to cancel out the line current harmonics. The proposed system is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK power system toolbox. Simulation results show that the dominant harmonics are reduced significantly.
