Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an algorithm for visually modeling rice panicle, which is based on the bending deformation model in mechanics of material. We firstly studied the morphologic structure of rice panicle, and then used an improved model of bending deformation to describe the curving morphology of panicle structure. The rachises and the curving morphology of various panicle branches were simulated based on the distribution of gravity. Finally, the overall bending morphology of rice panicle was simulated on the basis of its growth rule. The experiment results show realistic reconstructions of a variety of rice panicles and theirs development.
