Abstract :
In a typical wireless sensor network (WSN), it is very important to reduce the power consumption of each sensor node. Generally, wireless communication functions consume most of the battery. Therefore, reducing the number of transmissions of each node is efficient for conserving energy. We propose an energy-efficient data sending scheme that enables sensor nodes to reduce the number of their data transmissions. We focused on a change point detection algorithm and made sensor nodes to transmit data only when they detect large changes in those time-series sensing data. We modeled a data sending scheme and evaluated its performances in both simulation and real environments. Experimental results revealed that our scheme could reduce up to 90% of all data transmissions.
