Abstract
A new type of gamma ray camera is described that gives useful image information over its entire crystal face. The array of photo-multiplier tubes (PMTs) of the camera is divided into the four sub-arrays whose outputs are weighted into the same equivalent solid angle functions (ESAFs) respectively, called the mean detector-response functions (MDRFS). This high resolution imaging system for nuclear medicine is studied and designed via the application of digital electronics, digital signal processing and maximum likelihood estimation
