Abstract
Quasars (QSOs) are the most distant objects in the Universe. Most QSOs show relatively featureless power law continua with some convex and concave regions. To approximate the continuum, an adaptive method is presented which includes three steps: adaptive “good” points selection, adaptive knots or dominant points selection to partition the section into subsections by multi-scale transformation and the continuum approximation with spline functions
