Abstract
Generally information systems have hierarchical protocol structures. The maximum traffic capacity of information systems with a multi-layered protocol has been studied under the condition of a heterogeneous environment of information systems. When the upper bound of a mean response time is given, the relationship between the maximum input traffic and end-to-end responsiveness has been derived theoretically by a new binding method
