Abstract :
Platinum catalysts on activated carbon (AC) were developed and examined for the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater. The Pt/AC2 catalysts were more active than the Pt/ACl and Pt/AC3. With the analysis of BET, XPS and SEM, it was found that the quantities of oxygen containing groups on the AC surface increased after AC supports were pre-treated by oxidant, and farther the dispersion of Pt metal catalyst on the surface of the supports was improved. With the dispersion of Pt particles on the supports increasing, the catalytic activity of Pt/AC was improved.
