Abstract
Permutation modulation is a power efficient modulation scheme in fading channels due to its implicit diversity. In a DS-CDMA system, the power efficiency and the overall system bandwidth efficiency are closely related. It is shown that in a fading channel the proposed spread spectrum system is more bandwidth efficient than the ones which utilize conventional FSK or PSK modulations. Also it is demonstrated that by using FEC coding, an equivalent concatenated diversity and thus better performance can be achieved
