Abstract :
A repetitive pulsed high-voltage modulator producing superbroadband electromagnetic pulses of nanosecond duration, has been developed, capable of operating with a pulse repetition frequency up to 100 Hz. The modulator consists of a type RADAN-303B nanosecond driver and a pulse peaker based on gas gaps. Unipolar and monocycle pulses with a turnable duration and a peak voltage up to 150 kV were produced. The pulse peak power at the antenna input reached 200 MW. The obtained data on the stability of the parameters of the subnanosecond pulses produced by the modulator and on the electric strength of the interface between the modulator and the radiating TEM antenna are presented. Radiators with an increased directivity, based on several TEM antennas powered by the split pulse of the modulator were investigated. The radiated superbroadband pulse was recorded at distances up to 25 m from the antenna.
