Abstract
Mobile radio communications environment is a rather hostile environment which is subjected to continuous changes in its parameters that affect the signalling path. Also terrain changes in the mobile environment give rise to wave scattering and reflections which attenuate the signal significantly. The effect is to produce many signalling paths between the transmitter and receiver. This is known as multipath propagation [1] that gives rise to multipath fading. Moreover, a mobile receiver will experience a faded signal that is further complicated by a Doppler shift. A hardware Rayleigh fading simulator has been proposed together with a novel technique for the accurate measurement of Doppler frequency shift
