Abstract
Autonomous software agent technology and multi database systems (MDBS) are two highly interrelated fields of study. They are both studies on distributed systems with the former focusing on function and the latter on data. Autonomy is one of the main goals pursued. We provide an illustrative example of a MDBS design that works within an agent environment. The analysis of specific problems usually throws much light on the generic problems at large and we hope to demonstrate the key advantages of bringing research in agent and MDBS together within the context of the practical domain of stock broking
