Abstract :
This paper mainly investigates the carbon material femoral head which is used in the semi-hip replacement. Firstly the 3-D finite element model of the acetabula contacted with the prosthesis of different materials were established and calculate the acetabula´s cotacted stress. Thought comparing the contacting stress of the acetabular, the effect of different material with quite different property is clearly shown. It was found that : stress concentration is much obvious in the contact area of acetabulum. Elastic modulus of the femoral head material has great impact on the acetabula´s stress distribution. The greater of elastic modulus, the bigger of the greatest stress and the more obvious of stress concentration. Therefore, semi-hip replacement with the low elastic modulus carbon femoral head can significantly reduce the acetabular wear and alleviate pain.
