Abstract :
The application of cascaded state-space control for thermal systems is presented. The use of an observer for the immeasurable states also enables the control of the difference between the two temperatures. For a large class of systems, a simple model is obtained. This model is parametrized by the accessible parameters like the caloric mass and the heat flow parameters of the respective system, where the latter may be measured by simple caloric experiments. Furthermore the state space controller with cascade structure and the pole-placement combination with a quadratic performance index guarantees the requested behaviour of the closed loop. There is little computation needed and the methods shown may also be used online in an adaptive system
