Abstract :
A 400-800 MHz spectrum sensing system is designed using 0.18 μm CMOS technology for cognitive radio in the UHF TV band. Based on the energy detection method, the system employs a mixer, a DCO, a low-pass filer, a peak detector, a comparator and successive approximation registers to realize the spectrum sensing with 10-bit frequency identification and a resolution of 400 kHz. Using variable - gain function of the LPF, signal strength can be measured and presented with a 5-bit strength indicator.
