Abstract :
The heterogeneous photo-Fenton-type oxidation of sodium pentachlorophenate (PCP-Na) has been studied in this paper using artificial ultraviolet as a light source. Iron loaded chelating resin has been used as a heterogeneous catalyst in the process. The effects of pH, illumination time, concentration of H2O2, quality of iron loaded chelate resin and initial concentration of PCP-Na on the degradation rate of PCP-Na has been investigated. The optimal operational parameters were found as follows: 0.2 g iron loaded chelate resin, 24 mug/ml H2O2, 16 mug/ml PCP-Na, 150 min illumination of UV. The relational mechanisms in the process have been discussed. The conclusions of the study had solved the problems of reduction of optical efficiency, the difficulty to analysis pentachlorophenol and inducting new problem in photo-Fenton-type oxidation system.
