  • Abstract
    This paper refers to a new type of charging circuit for external defibrillator (ED). This circuit implements the principle of high efficient flying-back switching power supply. It takes advantage of the high charging efficiency of fly-back topology to reduce the charging time in ED. The experimental results shows that, applied this design, the topology in ED is simplified, the charging efficiency is greatly increased and the charging time is apparently shortened. So this circuit is suitable for battery powered ED and for the emergency situation when ventricular fibrillation (VF) happens. It will also serve for further development of high efficient handy external defibrillator (AED).
