Abstract
Thin metal films with subwavelength hole arrays (meshes) have been fabricated for operation as optical sensors. Mid-infrared spectroscopy and electromagnetic simulations demonstrate that free-standing meshes are particularly suitable for sensing solid nanopollutants.
