Abstract
This paper presents the basic terminology and concepts of patch antenna along with the description of various feeding techniques. A 2.4 GHz in-plane inset fed microstrip patch antenna has been designed. After describing various feeding techniques, the paper gives a better understanding of the design parameters of an antenna and their effect on bandwidth and efficiency. Finally, simulation is done using design software IE3D for optimization. The usefulness of LTCC (low temperature cofired ceramics) in microwave is described.
