Abstract :
A description of ongoing research activities at CRIF, a research center entirely dedicated to photovoltaics, is given. The CRIF activities cover the whole of a-Si:H solar cell technology, from fabrication processes and characterization of the materials and devices to module testing and applications. The laboratories are to be accommodated in a building of almost 10000 m2 at Portici, 10 km south of Naples. The three major areas of research are fabrication of a-Si:H solar cells and modules, characterization of the materials and devices by optical and electrical measurements, and photovoltaic systems development.
