Abstract :
Converter slag-coal cinder filters were effective for phosphorous removal and advanced wastewater treatment. Seven converter slag-coal cinder filters in column experiments were designed for investigating the influence of volume mixture ratio of converter slag to coal cinder, hydraulic loading rate, operating mode and height of filling materials on phosphorous removal from domestic wastewater. Results indicated Column 1# and Column 3# with the volume mixture ratio of converter slag to cinder as 1:1.5 and 1:5 had higher TP removal efficiency than Column 2# with 1:3, and the effluents TP concentrations of Column 1# and 3# were less than 1 mg/L during the experiments. The influence of hydraulic loading rate on phosphorous removal was not significant; even it varied from 1 m/d to 4 m/d. Consecutive dosing was advantage for phosphorous removal than intermittent dosing at a same hydraulic loading rate of 2 m/d. The height of filling materials had a significant influence on phosphorus removal, and the higher height was favored for phosphorus remove according to the test.
