Abstract :
To improve images compression ratio and resolution of images reconstructed, this paper proposes a method combining wavelet transform with singular value decomposition (SVD). There are 3 stages in the process. First, according to the requirements, the image was divided into the region of interest (ROI) and background. Second, the ROI was compressed through SVD and the background was compressed through wavelet transform. Third, assembling the ROI compressed by SVD and background compressed by wavelet transform. The method improves not only resolution of ROI images and compression ratio of the background, but also reduces the computing time. Experimental simulation shows the method is efficiency.
