  • Abstract
Using lightning surges generated by impulse voltage generator which conform to the International Standard IEC,we made an impulse experiment of lightning strikes on buildings´ plastic-steel windows and doors for studying the diffusing mechanism of lightning side struck plastic-steel windows and doors of buildings´ exterior wall. By combining this diffusion mechanism with manufacture and installation technology of the plastic-steel doors and windows, we found a fundamental principle in the lightning protection: the connection of metal components in the plastic-steel doors or windows and the connection between metal components in the doors or windows and lightning protection devices must be an equipotential connection. In addition, a construction method in lightning protection for buildings´ with plastic-steel doors and windows was suggested.
