Abstract :
A three dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) code, MAGIC3D, is used to examine eigenmode analysis of 2.5 MW S-band pulse tunable magnetron, using hole and slot type resonator with ring strap. Magnetron is invariably operated in pi mode which is being most efficient out of all the possible modes and nondegenerate in nature. So the mode separation between pi mode and adjacent mode is important aspect of magnetron resonator design. From this point of view ordinarily at least a 5 percent of mode separation between desired pi mode and adjacent mode is satisfactory.
