Title :
Analysis of ISDN limitations based on the user expectations
Abstract :
The results of a major survey carried out in Switzerland on communications in the 1990s are reported. The results are of particular interest because the participants did not focus on the technical possibilities of telecommunications in their replies. They simply formulated their concrete wishes and expectations. The survey showed that the market potential for ISDN exists, but that implementation is still far removed from customer requirements. So far, standardization has primarily been concerned with technical boundary conditions and available services. However, the market requires increased flexibility, improved access and operating facilities, and a wider range of information via existing and future services. It is concluded that suppliers and network carriers concentrate too heavily on major customers
