Abstract :
ISDN involves three integrations: media, functional, and user-interface integration. With this understanding, the authors have developed teleconferencing, multimedia mail, and electronic secretary services which make use of two strong points of ISDN: a clean B channel and advanced D channel signalling. Multimedia communication using multiple digitized B channels can be applied in both real-time communication service (teleconferencing) and store/forward service (multimedia mail service). The D channel allows user network control and provides users with customized services such as the electronic secretary service. The basic concept of these services and the experimental ISDN system for evaluating them are described
