Abstract
The author outlines novel techniques used in modeling Bell Canada´s access network. He presents results which can be exploited when determining planning directions and priorities. This approach to characterization, which models the whole access network, produces valuable insights into the demands, locations of demand and dynamics of the access network. Measuring and compiling these features not only ensures that developing network plans will be based on a sound and thorough analysis of access network requirements, but also allows for different network segments to be sized and prioritized for modernization
