Abstract :
British Telecom is embarking on an installation program to install fiber for its major business customers. In support of this activity, blown fiber has been introduced as a radically new way of installing optical fibers into the local loop. Blown fiber is a technique for installing optical fiber by blowing with compressed air into a preinstalled network of small-bore tubing. A brief review of single-mode fiber performance and effects of the cabling process is followed by a description of blown fiber
