  • Abstract
Photovoltaic is a sustainable and environment friendly energy source. However due to dynamic changes in solar irradiance and temperature, this infinite and free energy cannot be converted with high efficiency. This paper illustrates a control strategy to design and implement Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in a photovoltaic system using Incremental Conductance algorithm. The PSIM simulation results verify proper functioning of the proposed MPPT sub-circuit. A constant 312V DC output is generated from irregular voltage of solar panel by changing the duty cycle of the MOSFET of the 24V-312V boost converter. The filtered output waveform of the SPWM driven H-bridge inverter via the L-C low pass filter is found to be a pure sine-wave of 312Vpeak (220Vrms) and 50 Hz frequency with a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.002 which is significantly lower than the IEEE519 standard.
