Abstract :
Among many great scientific achievements, discovery of electricity stands out in an unparalleled manner. The twentieth century has made use of electricity so extensively that it has almost changed the face of the earth. With this exponential rise in demand, power shortage has become a global phenomenon. South Asian countries alone are facing an average shortage of 15%-30% in electricity. In order to cope up with the increasing demand, short-term measure like oil based generation system has been introduced which has hiked up the cost of electricity. In a developing country like Bangladesh, cost of energy must be kept at bay to ensure minimum standard of life. That´s where the term “affordable cost” comes into action. From the point of view of Bangladesh, where natural resource is scarce, nuclear based electricity generation is a suitable way to sustain increasing demand in an affordable manner. In this paper, fundamental concentration is given on both affordability and nuclear energy.
