Abstract :
Estimation of loadability of a generation/transmission system is of practical importance in power system operation and planning. This paper presents a formulation to address the problem using the terminology of mathematical programming theory. Both steady-state and dynamic security are taken into account in the proposed formulation. An iterative solution procedure, which is computationally effective, is developed to solve the formulation numerically. The procedure generates a slightly conservative estimate on the loadability of a generation/transmission system. Simulation results of a test power system are provided
