Abstract :
A method of nuclear medicine simulation incorporating complete physical realism of any collimator of three-dimensional patient geometry has been developed. The results of simulating a cone-beam collimator for cardiac imaging are described. Cone-beam collimation for imaging small organs leads to an enhancement of both sensitivity and lesion detectability over conventional collimators. Results of verifying the method of tomographic data acquisition of cone-beam data are provided. Future uses of this method of data production are also described
