Abstract
It is analyzed first in the paper the most common connection types of subway lines according to the relative positions of different platforms. Then transfer stations in Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) are summed up and their design characteristics are analyzed. It is concluded that in all types of connection types, whether it is “=”, “+” or “Y” type, transfer in the same platform is employed as much as possible to make passengers´ transfer convenient. The way that the same-platform-transfer stations are designed in different types of subway line connections in MTR can provide much reference to the design of subway stations in mainland China.
