Abstract :
In view of the trend in and requirement of microwave tubes, it is necessary to identify areas and involve academia in research and development with national laboratories and industries through sponsored projects. All concerned in the community established academic institutions, national laboratories, industries, and users must exploit the huge potential in large number of engineering college students and teachers in the country. Similarly, engineering colleges should emulate Burdwan University and Banasthali Vidyapith to take part in the national activities of developing self-reliance in the area of microwave tubes, which is often kept a closely guarded secret area in several strategic domains. The students and teachers of these colleges should take up masterpsilas and doctoral dissertation work in the area of microwave tubes benefiting from the supervision of the scientists, teachers, and engineers of established organisations working in the area as well as from the analytical, simulation, and experimental facilities these organisations can provide to colleges.
