Abstract :
Modern composites have disadvantages in terms of detecting damaged regions and in their compatibility with electromagnetic environments. The use of non-destructive evaluation methods for composites could be enhanced and electromagnetic compatibility concerns could be alleviated by making the composites more conductive. We simulated a fabricated composition containing epoxy, graphite, and well dispersed nanotubes. This combination is highly conductive and will allow for the assessment of the interstitial regions for damage. The increased panel conductivity and lower seam impedance will improve the EMC properties of composites.
