Abstract :
The leader channel consists of a channel core surrounded by a radically formed corona sheath, and the lightning current measured at the bottom of the lightning channel can be divided into breakdown and corona current components. Based on the DU model, the current waveforms characteristics along the channel are discussed. It is found that the simulated lightning return stroke current waveforms are in good agreement with the optical measurements when the two different discharge time constants are properly chosen.
