Abstract :
From the viewpoint of demands on traffic facility management, this paper establishes traffic sign encoding contents and encoding rules based on investigations and interviews. Encoding method follows the principles of uniqueness, stability and simplification. The connection of traffic signs and support structures is considered and encoding contents are integrated with geographical positioning effectively. Firstly, the encoding contents are divided into four parts, including location codes, classification codes, serial codes and property codes. Secondly, the encoding structures and encoding rules are established for the four parts. Finally, a specific case of traffic signs encoding is shown. This encoding technology will provide a theoretical basis for the traffic signs RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) research and provide technical support for science and information management of traffic sign system in urban area.
