Abstract :
The challenges of operating present day power systems are increasing. The goals are to maintain security at the lowest possible cost. Computational Intelligence based methods have the potential to provide solutions that will be useful to enhance the performance of a power system. A swarm intelligence based method is investigated in this paper for economic dispatch of a power system. Case studies using two power system models are presented to illustrate the proposed method.
