Abstract :
We introduce a collection of techniques, which we propose to denote “neuromorphic CNN”, for applying cellular neural networks to the physiologically-detailed modelling of biological neural systems. Examples will be given of the application of these methods to the construction of highly biologically-faithful models of the vertebrate retina, and the utility of such models to neurobiological research will be discussed
