Abstract
This paper presents a bridgeless Cuk rectifier fed Brushless Direct Current Motor (BLDC) drive, for power factor correction and efficiency optimization, which is useful for low power applications. Speed control with load variation is achieved by the closed loop control of BLDC motor. Bridgeless configuration of this PFC converter offers the elimination of Diode Bridge Rectifier and hence reduces the conduction losses associated with it. Power quality of input ac mains is improved by this Cuk rectifier topology. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of supply current is within lower limits according to IEC standards. Modeling and simulation of the proposed scheme is done in MATLABSimulink software, and obtained proper results.
