  • Abstract
Driver Assistance Systems (DAS) like lane keeping assistance, pedestrian crossing detection, roadway signal identification or the electronic stability program are characterized by a basic software and hardware architecture. ECU or Electronic Control Units have been an integral part of today´s automotive industry since it provided added safety and control to the driver along with various modes of driving assistance. The hardware and the software that is embedded inside the ECU do not change with runtime hence providing consistency and reliability in performance. In future, however, there will be DAS where the components of the system are distributed over the entire automobile needs to interact with each other to provide for better experience and improve safety. These systems will have to be able to handle a high degree of distribution, changing hardware and software configurations and the integration of heterogeneous components at runtime. One important area is interfacing the ECU like video related and radar related which will provide for the greater level of implementation.
