Abstract
A new alignment-free servo concept for a VHS recorder uses a microprocessor for digital regulation in combination with a new drum-motor control concept. The problem was how to reduce production costs and get a higher precision for the necessary adjustments. The solution is to let the servo controller to the critical and time intensive adjustments by itself.<>
