Abstract :
The accuracy of the frequency estimates provided by non-parametric and parametric approaches is compared with regard to the effect of both noise and spectral interference. A comparison is made between methods based on the discrete Fourier transform and autoregressive approaches, underlining the tradeoff between resolution and computational effort. Suitable criteria are discussed for the selection of the more appropriate method for a given frequency estimation problem
