Abstract
The safety operation of tailing dam not only affects the normal production of mine, but also directly impacts on the people´s lives and property as well as the ecological environment of downstream. Seepage is the most important factor for the safety of the tailing dam and the environment of the reservoir area, so it is necessary to control seepage strictly. According to the engineering geological conditions of Ekou tailing dam, the three dimensional seepage model of the tailing dam is built, the distributions of the underwater free surface under the low dam and high dam conditions are analyzed, the effects of drainage layer under the different permeability conditions are compared and the use of the drainage layer as the engineering measure to control the seepage is put forward, in order that the tailing dam can be operated normally.
