Abstract :
This paper discusses emerging directions of enterprise networks (ENs). Technological, policy-related, and architectural viewpoints are used to discuss the evolution of the ENs. Various phases of life-cycle of the ENs are then reviewed. An integrated, reliable, high bandwidth, scalable and multimedia transport net based architecture is envisioned for next generation ENs (NGENs). The users of NGENs would have more direct control over the configuration and quality of service they subscribe to
