Abstract :
For providing the railway power supply in some European countries with 15 kV and about 16.7 Hz, static system-tie frequency converters are used since several years. In commissioning the prototype of such a plant, a high risks of damage is apparent as a lot of new components in power devices and control circuits are to be put into operation. This paper describes the procedure of a special low-voltage commissioning avoiding the risk of damage to the power section as only limited voltage (some percent of rated voltage) and limited currents are used up to full control of the system.
