Abstract :
Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (D-STATCOM), as one of the most important research fields in Custom Power, is a sort of new power electronic equipments which can solve power quality problems in distribution system effectively. This paper deals with the operating principle of three-phase D-STATCOM with VSI structure. In order to compensate reactive current at load side dynamically, direct current control strategy based on supply current detection method is employed. Two different specific control schemes under abc and dq coordinate systems are adopted and their configuration in conjunction with formulas are provided respectively. One of the two schemes is modeled and simulated under the environment of PSCAD/EMTDC. Its static and dynamic performances are analyzed in depth, which has verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy strongly.
