Abstract :
A HF multi-standard RFID transceiver for compact mobile devices is proposed. The proposed transceiver concerns all considerations for supporting 13.56 MHz RFID standards of 14443A/B, 18092, 15693, and 18000-3. A transmitter adjusts its ASK modulation index and output power with a digitally controlled mode selector and power controller, thus covering various standards and recognition ranges. A receiver also changes its reference level of demodulation to process response signals with various amplitudes with digitally-controlled units. The size of the receiver is compact and more compatible with digital parts of a reader since it has an all-MOS structure and 90% of it is implemented with digital circuits. The proposed transceiver is implemented in a TSMC 0.18 um CMOS technology and simulation results indicate the proposed transceiver satisfies all considerations for multi-standard.
