Abstract :
In this paper, a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) scheme with spare antenna array is investigated for the case of high-speed railway scenario. Using a recently proposed criterion for maximizing MIMO system capacity, the antenna elements are designed to achieve subchannel orthogonality and hence the channel response is not rank deficient. Theoretical and numerical results validate that the MIMO scheme proposed for railway environment is seen to achieve a significant capacity enhancement in the high regime of Ricean K factor. The performance of this MIMO system is robust under the implications of the model parameters, such as scattering channel and railway curvature effects.
